Invisible Orthodontics

Leaders in Invisible Orthodontics in Cali

Orthodontics is a type of treatment that uses different devices to correct imperfections in the teeth and maxillary bones, both in appearance and in their functionality, which can originate both from normal circumstances and from inappropriate habits such as finger sucking.

Orthodontics is recommended in patients with misaligned teeth or bite problems, since the upper teeth do not fit correctly with the lower ones, so that the teeth achieve a harmonious organization.

Orthodontics must be performed because if it is not corrected, gum problems, tooth wear, gingivitis, self-esteem problems, among others, can occur.

How do I know if I need orthodontics?

You need braces or invisible braces when:

· You have an overbite: When a person has a correct bite, their teeth manage to close with a minimum of rubbing or overlapping, on the other hand, when there is an overbite, the upper teeth can almost cover the lower teeth to close.

· You have crowding: When the size of the teeth is not compatible with the size of the jaws, either because the teeth are very large or the jaws are very narrow transversely, the teeth are arranged one on top of the other in a disorderly manner due to lack of space.

· Your midline is displaced: The dental midline is the one that marks the separation between the two upper and lower central teeth, which must coincide with each other and with the imaginary facial midline that divides the face vertically in half. When these two lines do not coincide, treatments must be carried out to align them and thus improve the aesthetics and functionality of the teeth. When the midline is displaced due to functional or dental problems, it can be corrected orthodontically.

To define the procedure to be performed, our orthodontists analyze, in addition to the medical conditions of each patient, their needs, budget and tastes, to define whether visible or invisible, fixed or removable devices are adapted, in order to offer the appropriate treatment for each person.

Orthodontic treatments

The professionals in charge of this procedure in our clinic are dentists who have completed 3 years of academic specialization and experience in orthodontics, making them capable of performing advanced treatments, tailored to the needs of each patient. At the Tascón clinic we have these orthodontic treatments:

Invisible Orthodontics (Invisalign)

It is a splint-type aligner, aesthetic, inconspicuous, removable and comfortable, recommended for minor malpositions that allows correcting the position of the teeth and the bite. It should be used throughout the day, removing only to eat or drink sweetened beverages and brush teeth. This device must be changed approximately every 2 weeks to adapt to the movements of the teeth generated by the treatment.

Sapphire brackets

They are a more discreet alternative to Brackets conventional, since they are transparent, they are not pigmented and their texture is resembles that of teeth, therefore they are less noticeable, they are also resistant and durable, they are small and rounded to that are more comfortable and aesthetic.

Metal braces

They are the traditional orthodontic solution. They are capable of correcting dental alignment and bite problems. Its main advantages are being highly resistant to breakage and cheaper than other treatments.

Orthopedics and Orthodontics for children

It is performed in children between 6 and 11 years of age to correct the bite and alignment of the teeth in the early stage of the maxillary and mandibular bones, correcting the bone structure so that it continues to form in the correct size and position. and thus improve the aesthetics and functionality of the teeth and the shape of the face.

Frequent Questions

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that studies and corrects imperfections in the teeth and maxillary bones, both in appearance and functionality.

Every case is different. Depending on the evolution and the condition to be treated, it can last between 12 to 36 months.

In children, cases of malocclusion can all be treated with orthodontics since the bone is not yet fully formed and can be corrected, but in some cases the treatment has to be supported by the removal of some teeth to increase space.
However, in adults, as the bone is already fully formed, it cannot be corrected, which is why, in some cases of malocclusion due to bone problems, orthognathic surgery must be used.

It is possible as long as the retention treatment recommended by the orthodontist is carried out consistently.

  • The most common orthodontic problems are:
Crowding: Teeth misaligned and assembled by the little space for their normal development.
  • Open Bite: The upper teeth cannot close the bite with the lower ones, either due to lack of space between the teeth, poor bone development or bad habits such as finger sucking.
  • Deep Bite or Overbite: When the upper teeth close, they cover almost the entire surface of the lower teeth.
  • Protrusion: When the upper teeth look more prominent than the lower ones, either due to problems in bone formation or incorrect position of the teeth.
  • Congenital Absence of Teeth or Agenesis: When some teeth are not formed and their absence creates an atypical rearrangement of the teeth.
  • Crossbite: When the upper teeth are located behind the lower ones, either due to the incorrect inclination of the incisors or because the upper jaw is very small or the jaw is larger.
  • Spacing of the Teeth: When the spaces between the teeth are larger than expected, which is why an incorrect bite can sometimes occur.
  • Displaced midline: It is when the line that separates the two central teeth does not coincide between the upper and lower teeth and/or with the imaginary midline of the face.

The ideal age to visit the orthodontist for the first time is at 6 years old, in order to analyze the way in which the teeth are coming out and the way in which the bones are being formed in order to correct them early and easily, before the end their formation.

Orthodontics corrects the position of the teeth to improve their functionality and appearance but not in the physical appearance of the person, however, by having neater teeth, the smile and face will look better.
